RELATIONAL TRAUMA





is a disruption of safety that happens at the hands of someone who is close to us. It might be our partner or spouse. It could happen with our parents, children, or other family members. Sometimes it's a friend or even a co-worker. Bottom line: it's a *significant* rupture in a relationship we "should" be able to count on.

Additionally, many relational trauma dynamics have patterns of ongoing hurt and harm. For example, being sexually betrayed by our partner or spouse. Being in relationship with someone who is emotionally immature. An emotionally abusive parent. A narcissistic boss.

And because these are relationships we often highly value, it can be extremely difficult to navigate in them, let alone determine how to stop the destructive patterns and heal. We don't understand why we are "losing it." We can't spot the cycles of deception and extreme highs and lows that are keeping us reeling and overwhelmed.

Often, relational trauma leaves a deep mark on "the target:" physically by rewiring the brain, nervous system and impacting the body's normal functioning; mentally by ingraining thought and emotional patterns and devastating beliefs; and battling with broken hearts as we try to navigate and make sense of our relationships with ourselves, God, and our loved one(s) in the aftermath.

Relational trauma invades our bodies, minds, and hearts, and so I healing is needed in ALL of those areas. It's time to take back your life by becoming GROUNDED and ROOTED and rising above your past or current circumstances with FORTITUDE and GRACE.
